NEW YORK – Safe Horizon, the nation’s largest victim service organization, today announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors.
The recently appointed members are Tamron Hall, award-winning talk show host, producer, journalist, author and domestic violence advocate; Kathy Martens, investment banking professional and co-founder of SaggVentures; and Jessica Wachler, criminal justice reform leader and human resources professional.

Tamron, Kathy, and Jessica’s deep passion for helping survivors and using their influence to advocate for the unwavering support Safe Horizon provides is invaluable to our mission,” said Sonia Sande, Co-Board Chair.

Every year, 250,000 people seek safety through Safe Horizon services following experiences of violence, abuse, and exploitation. The board supports Safe Horizon’s vision of a world where safety is a universal human right.

Hall is a two-time Emmy®-winning journalist, executive producer and host of the nationally syndicated talk show “Tamron Hall”, one of television’s top-rated daytime programs. She is a domestic violence advocate and a long-time supporter of Safe Horizon, partnering with Safe Horizon to launch The Tamron ❤ Renate Fund in honor of her sister to help victims and families affected by domestic violence. Safe Horizon honored her with the Voice of Empowerment Award in 2014. She has previously served as host of the TODAY Show, “Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall” on Investigation Discovery, “Someone They Knew with Tamron Hall,” on Court TV, and several TV specials on MSNBC and NBC News. Hall has also authored her Jordan Manning mystery series of books. The Luling, Texas native holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism from Temple University.
Martens is the co-founder of SaggVentures, a venture investing company and previously held roles at Calvert Research and Management, a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley, Rockefeller Asset Management, Voya Investment Management, Sandell Asset Management and Citigroup Alternative Investments. Martens has served as a Committee Member for High Water Women and is fluent in English, French, Dutch and conversant in German. The Belgium native, FSA Credential-holder and CAIA charter holder, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Economic Sciences and Accountancy from the Economische Hogeschool Sint-Aloysius in Brussels and a Master of Business Administration from New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
Wachler is a field leader in justice reform efforts in New York City and across the United States. She spent 17 years with the Center for Justice Innovation where she collaborated with a wide range of community and philanthropic stakeholders. Her grandmother, Joann Lang, served on the Safe Horizon Board for nearly three decades until her passing in 2024. Jessica is honored to continue her legacy and the family’s long-standing commitment to Safe Horizon. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Muhlenberg College and a Master of Social Work from New York University.
