Today’s New York Times report alleges that Errol Musk has been accused of sexually abusing several of his children and stepchildren over many decades. This investigation highlights a fundamental truth: abuse can, and does, happen to anyone regardless of wealth, privilege, or status. 

Trauma runs deep, across generations. Trauma persists. Family members who bear witness to abuse—whether directly or indirectly—often carry emotional wounds long after the events themselves, making healing even more difficult to achieve.  

All survivors should have the opportunity to seek healing, safety, and justice in ways that feel right for them, no matter how long ago the abuse happened. That’s why we’ve fought to extend the statute of limitations for adult survivors of child sexual abuse. Because trauma takes time.
